Century-old boats from all over the globe

Around fifty classic and vintage boats from all over the globe (Spain, England, France, Italy, Argentina, United States, etc.) are expected to set sail with the aim of putting on a dignified exhibition of pure seafaring tradition, which we are seldom able to witness in major capital cities like Barcelona.

From July 12 to 15, everyone in Barcelona can benefit from a first-hand view of century-old yachts such as Yanira, Hallowe’en, Gipsy, Mariska, Marigan, and Manitou; genuine works of art that portray a historical legacy that is hard to measure.

For this the 16th edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona Regatta, four different categories have been set based on the design, age, and size of the participating yachts:

  • Vintage boats: boats launched before December 31, 1949, and built from timber or metal.
  • Classic boats: boats launched between January 1, 1950, and December 31, 1975, and built from timber or metal according to the original designs.
  • Big boats: vintage and classic boats with a length of 23 meters or more.
  • Modern classic boats: this is a new category incorporated into the regatta, the participants of which may take part on the invitation of the Organizing Committee.

The modern classic boat category opens the event up to boats launched between 1970 and 1984, the first time that these yachts have been eligible to compete.
